CORBETT TAKES HELM AT ZAMORA COMPANY USA

Madrid, Spain (August 2, 2018) - Zamora Company USA, the new Joint Venture based in Dallas, Texas owned by Zamora Company (Spain) and Old Nassau Imports (USA) announces the appointment of spirits industry veteran William “Bill” Corbett as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

Corbett joins the business from Rémy Cointreau USA where he has been Senior VP for sales for the last seven years.  He will lead the direction and culture of the Zamora Company USA group’s esteemed heritage brands in the premium and super premium categories.  In addition to Zamora’s leading Licor 43 global ‘power brand’, the unique portfolio will include Double Cross Vodka, with Martin Miller’s Gin, Yellow Rose Texas Whiskey, and Lolea Sangria integration at a later date - all having been recently acquired by Zamora Company.

“Bill’s expansive knowledge and depth of experience in the spirits industry across the United States ensures discovering the most credible go-to-market plan for our super – premium portfolio,” says Thomas Clamens, International Director for Zamora Company and Chairman of Zamora Co. USA Board.  “The priority will be to consolidate our unique, globally recognized brands into one committed & passionate network.”

“The opportunity to have Bill, a strong and experienced leader, who shares our passion to build this organization along with the portfolio of brands is exciting,” says Linda Larson Gawne, CEO Old Nassau Imports. “He has the vision and the right approach to build something special and we are delighted to have him leading the way.”

“It’s an exciting time for global sprits players,” according to Corbett, “and a critical time to be in control of your own destiny.  Entering the world’s largest market for luxury spirit brands requires significant investment, which the Zamora family has committed to in the US.  For a great global brand like Licor 43, 30% of its business should be based in the USA.   To date, only 10% of its business is in the USA.  This is an enormous growth opportunity for Zamora Company USA.”

The secret for trade partners is to “recognize the value and potential of the portfolio,” Corbett says.  “Super-premium gin is a category leader, much like whiskey,” he adds.  The vodka category remains the largest in the US and the addition of Double Cross Vodka to this portfolio positions the brand to become the next generation in top-shelf luxury vodka.

Currently, the portfolio of the new company is not consolidated, which will be the main focus for the immediate future.  “We must consolidate everything under one umbrella, while being careful not to disrupt the trade going into the holiday season.  We will move fast, efficiently, and seamlessly - because we can,” says Corbett.

Corbett’s tenure in the spirits industry spans over 35 years, encompassing a variety of sales leadership roles.  Among the most important business initiatives he led are creation of the commercial strategy for Rémy Martin V.S.O.P Fine Champagne Cognac in the U.S., currently the largest selling brand in its category, as well as the successful planning and go-to-market execution of the iconic Cointreau Liquor & key brand introductions, including The Botanist Gin, within the luxury portfolio.  Prior to joining Rémy Cointreau, Corbett’s on-premise specialized career began with experience at E.&J. Gallo Winery in national accounts, and at Proctor & Gamble, in foodservice and lodging distribution sales.

Corbett is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, with a degree in Business and History, and graduate studies at Cornell University.
