MARTIN MILLER’S GIN AWARDED A DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL FOR ITS 9 MOONS SOLERA RESERVE BY THE SAN FRANCISCO WORLD SPIRITS COMPETITION

The World’s most awarded gin brand over the last 15 years, Martin Miller’s Gin, has received a Double Gold Medal from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

This accolade consolidates the position of Martin Miller’s Gin as the World’s most awarded gin brand of the last 15 years, following a run of 22 Award wins over the past year and 176 Awards since 2004 across the Original, Westbourne, 9 Moons, Summerful and Winterful blends.

Founded in 2000, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is one of the oldest and most influential competitions of its kind. With nearly two decades of experience, it has become a fine-tuned operation that blends passion and professionalism. Throughout its judging process it emphasises integrity and impartiality, with blind tastings that guarantee every entry is judged fairly and given equal consideration. Each of the esteemed judges is a seasoned expert with a trusted palate; therefore, a medal is an indication of the highest calibre of quality.

The Double Gold Medal winning 9 Moons Solera Reserve was launched following years of research into the best barrel ageing process for its super-premium barrel-aged gin. The two key innovations in the Solera Reserve are the use of fine French oak barrels in the ageing process rather than charred American oak Kentucky Bourbon casks, and the introduction of a new Solera Vat process to ensure consistency of the product in each batch. From the forests of Allier and Limousin, the French oak barrels are the same barrel quality used for ageing the finest wines. The French oak compliments the citrus profile of Martin Miller’s Gin, and the ageing process helps to boost the flavour intensity whilst balancing the wood and citrus. This balance is further achieved through the use of heavily toasted barrels, which help increase the sweetness of vanilla and coconut, whilst providing a creamy mouthfeel.

In keeping with previous versions the Solera Reserve is created by ageing Martin Miller’s Gin for 9 moon cycles (approximately 9 months) in the optimal conditions of Iceland’s cool climate, and the development of these rigorous evaluation and testing methods ensure that consumers are able to enjoy the same quality and flavour profile with each new bottle.
