RAMÓN BILBAO PRESENTS LIMITE NORTE AND LIMITE SUR
Ramón Bilbao presents Límite Norte and Límite Sur, a new collection of wines that has emerged to breathe life into a journey of discovery of Rioja’s various landscapes. Límite Norte and Límite Sur are Ramón Bilbao’s way of exploring the geographical and winegrowing extremities of DOCa Rioja, calling on varieties that display the diversity and richness of the region.
These two different wines are the finishing touch to the Riojan bodega’s already expansive range: Límite Norte 2017 is the first Riojan white made by Ramón Bilbao, selecting the best grapes from its vineyards in Cuzcurrita. This wine explores the westernmost area of the region, and is made with 50% white Tempranillo and 50% white Maturana. Following fermentation in concrete vessels and less ageing in a number of materials (concrete, amphora, large barrels), it undergoes ageing in American barrels for a period of 6 months. This wine has medium intensity in the nose, with aromas of citrus fruits, stone fruits, and subtle notes of barrel. It’s an ageworthy white, ideal for pairing with white meats such as truffled chicken, soft cheeses and oily fish.
Límite Sur 2017 is 100% made with grapes of the Garnacha variety from Sierra de Yerga, in eastern Rioja, where the height is crucial to achieve the subtle complexity of this wine. Partially aged in different materials (concrete, amphora and 500L barrels), the wine is then blended and, lastly, aged in 225L French barrels for 10 months. Fresh in mouth, with a good acidity level and pleasant tannins, Límite Sur is a harmonious, balanced wine, with a story to tell. It is ideal to accompany red meat, cured cheeses or feathered game.
With this, our latest launch, Rodolfo Bastida, enologist at Ramón Bilbao, states that “we wanted to show that Rioja continues to harbour many paths worth exploring, beyond the traditional classification and some of the more common enological products from the region”.
Límite Norte 2017 and Límite Sur 2017 are now available at Ramon BIlbao wine shop in Haro, and it will be available exclusively from October 5th in Club Venturio, From November onwards it will arrive on the Spanish market with a retail price of €19.95 per bottle with a limited production of 5000 bottles each.
