RAMÓN BILBAO CONTINUES MAKING HISTORY 7 CONSECUTIVE YEARS AMONG THE WORLD'S 50 MOST ADMIRED WINE BRANDS

This recognition highlights the winery's commitment to quality, sustainability, and the most distinctive expression of the terroirs and landscapes of Rioja and Rueda. This new distinction enhances the international recognition of Ramón Bilbao's winemaking project, thanks to its focus on building a brand that represents the highest standards in the wine world. A pioneering brand that has always worked to go beyond expectations.

Ramón Bilbao continues to make history, just a few months after celebrating its centenary, securing a spot for the seventh consecutive year in the prestigious list of "The 50 Most Admired Wine Brands in the World" published annually by Drinks International. “We are incredibly proud to be part of this list once again; it is a reflection of the ongoing effort and dedication of the entire Ramón Bilbao team. We continue to work with passion for excellence, always striving to innovate and offer the best from our vineyards. This achievement is the result of our continuous commitment to quality and respect for the terroir, and it inspires us to keep surpassing ourselves every day,” says Rodolfo Bastida, Director of Bodegas Ramón Bilbao.
Only a few months after celebrating its centenary, Ramón Bilbao achieves this new milestone, a feat that only two other Spanish wineries have achieved since the creation of this prestigious ranking 17 years ago. This is due to the high regard the judging panel—a broad and diverse group of journalists and professionals from around the world—has for Ramón Bilbao's commitment to excellence, sustainability, and the faithful, honest expression of the terroirs and landscapes of Rioja and Rueda.

In 2025, Ramón Bilbao has climbed several positions compared to the previous year. The prestigious publication highlights the winery’s strong commitment to the environment and sustainable viticulture. It also emphasises global recognition for the brand’s contributions through innovation, deepening knowledge of high-altitude landscapes, and its ability to project Spanish wine into the future. The Most Admired Wine Brands in the World recognises renowned wineries from five continents, such as Catena Zapata (Argentina), Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (Burgundy, France), Penfolds (Australia) or Gaja (Italy).

Other Spanish Wineries Recognised in This Prestigious List
This latest edition of the prestigious list of “The 50 Most Admired Wine Brands in the World” also features other Spanish wineries, highlighting the uniqueness of projects from our country. Some of the notable brands include Torres, which drops to fifth place, Vega Sicilia, La Rioja Alta, which reaches the podium for the first time this year, Faustino or Marqués de Cáceres.

Drinks International and The Most Admired Wine Brands in the World
The list of the 50 brands was made public by Drinks International, a British magazine specialising in global trends in wine, spirits, and beer, with a highly knowledgeable audience. Founded in 1972, the magazine is one of the key publications in the global wine market, with readers in over 80 countries. The ranking of "The Most Admired Wine Brands in the World" is based on surveys conducted by international wine industry professionals (journalists, wine writers, consultants, winemakers, buyers, educators, analysts, sommeliers, and Masters of Wine). The magazine asks them to select the wine brands they admire most, based on factors such as quality, authenticity, and brand image. Voters cast their votes based on the following criteria:

  • The wines must show consistent and increasing quality.
  • Reflect the region or country of origin.
  • Meet the needs and tastes of their target audience.
  • Successful distribution and packaging.
  • Wines with broad appeal to a wide market.

The official announcement of The Most Admired Wine Brands in the World is made with the release of the April 2025 issue of Drinks International, which provides readers with a comprehensive and detailed report on the most influential and admired brands in the wine world.
