ZAMORA COMPANY ACCELERATES ITS SUSTAINABLE TRANSFORMATION WITH 82% RENEWABLE ENERGY AND 95% RECYCLED WASTE
The company improved its percentage of renewable energy consumed by 21 percentage points in one year and reduced its CO₂ emissions by 42% compared to fiscal year 2020. The sixth Conscious Company Report highlights its progress in creating value for people, the environment, and communities. The Silver EcoVadis Medal awarded to Zamora Company endorses its commitment to environmental issues, social responsibility, and sustainable procurement, placing it in the top 15% of the world's most sustainable companies. The two awards won at the Just Drinks Excellence Awards 2025 recognize its sustainability strategy. In 2025, the company contributed more than 659,000 euros to social and community initiatives.
Zamora Company—owner of Licor 43, Ramón Bilbao, and Martin Miller’s Gin, among other premium wine and spirits brands—continues to make progress in creating long-term value for people, the environment, and the communities where it operates, as reflected in its sixth 2025 Conscious Company Report.
In 2025, the company consolidated sustainability as the core of its business model through its "Conscious Company Model" strategy. This approach has enabled it to drive various initiatives with a positive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impact. For the third consecutive year, it has also renewed its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact and the 17 SDGs. At the same time, the company has been working on its new 2026–2028 Sustainability Master Plan, designed to align the actions of all its brands under the same global commitments.
In the environmental sphere, its sustainability policy enabled the company to recycle 95% of its waste in 2025 and power 82% of its operations from renewable sources, up from 61% the previous year. This progress—which reinforces Zamora Company’s commitment to driving an energy transition based on efficiency and the progressive decarbonization of its operations—has played a decisive role in reducing the company’s carbon footprint.
Thanks to the measures implemented in recent years, Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity stood at 22.7 grams of CO₂ equivalent per bottled liter, representing a 42% reduction compared to 2020. Furthermore, in 2025, Zamora Company began designing a new decarbonization plan that will define the organization's roadmap and drive continued progress toward an increasingly efficient and resilient production model.
Along these lines, in 2025 the company reduced the weight of Ramón Bilbao's main bottle model, avoiding the use of 155 tons of glass and the emission of 40 tons of $CO_2$ equivalent. In water management, consumption dedicated to spirits manufacturing decreased by 15.9%, while water used for vineyard irrigation was 26.9% lower.
Last year, the company prioritized locally sourced raw materials with the purchase of 8,000 tons of local agricultural products linked to the regions where its plants are located (100% Navarrese sloe berries for Zoco, PGI Sorrento lemons for Villa Massa, and certified origin grapes for its wineries).
“2025 was a year of challenges that we addressed with the serenity and strength provided by our sustainability management, which we call the Conscious Company Model,” emphasizes Javier Pijoan, CEO of Zamora Company. For Pijoan, the acquisition last year of a majority stake in Bodegas Godeval—one of the most prestigious and recognized wineries in the Valdeorras Designation of Origin—along with progress in environmental, social, and governance aspects, “are the result of a responsible, efficient, and sustainable growth strategy that is deeply committed to society and the environment.”
Major Recognition
In 2025, Zamora Company’s environmental performance earned the organization major accolades, such as the Silver-level International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) seal for Ramón Bilbao. Meanwhile, the Silver EcoVadis Medal awarded to Zamora Company—which endorses the organization’s performance in areas such as the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement—placed the company in the top 15% of the world's most sustainable companies.
Furthermore, the company was recognized with two awards at the Just Drinks Excellence Awards 2025 for the success of its sustainability management framework, the Conscious Company Model. The Business Expansion award highlighted the company's international growth strategy, emphasizing resilient expansion, disciplined entry into new markets, and effective distribution channel management. The Environment award recognized Zamora Company’s commitment to decarbonization, focusing on the demonstrable reductions in operational emissions achieved through a climate plan fully integrated into its strategy.
Social and Community Initiatives
In social matters, last year Zamora Company contributed more than 659,000 euros to social and community initiatives, as well as collaborating with centers that promote the employment integration of people with disabilities. Furthermore, in 2025 the company worked on a Corporate Training Plan and carried out 62 training initiatives.
Zamora Company’s involvement in the local communities where it operates has led it to support culture through the sponsorship of fashion shows and awards; continue promoting wine knowledge through the Spanish Wine Academy; and boost leisure and gastronomy as the face of several festivals.
The company closed fiscal year 2025 with a diverse workforce of more than 580 employees. Supported by an equality policy that guarantees an inclusive work environment, Zamora Company also features a Code of Ethics and Conduct, which outlines respect for equality, the right to training, career advancement, and professional development.
